Brooklyn Zoo (original version)

Brooklyn Zoo is the first single from Ol' Dirty Bastard's solo debut, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version which was released January 21, 1995 on record label Elektra.

2 music videos were shot for Brooklyn Zoo.

This original version features a film with subtitles and revolves around the character Pimp Daddy (played by Ol' Dirty Bastard) who experiences quite a few violent incidents.

That clip was a little too violent for MTV anyway, so Ol' Dirty Bastard made a friendlier version, in which he stands in the hallways of a dank apartment complex rapping surrounded by various members of the Wu-Tang Clan, including his cousins RZA and GZA and Raekwon, Method Man and Cappadonna.

In one scene, Ol' Dirty Bastard picks his nose and wipes his finger on the wall. This version of the video received the most airplay.

Wu-Tang Clan in the Melkweg

In April 1997, Wu-Tang Clan performs at the Melkweg in Amsterdam with Ol' Dirty Bastard.

The set list makes room for Shimmy Shimmy Ya and Brooklyn Zoo by Ol' Dirty Bastard and features a surprisingly sharp and active Dirty.

This video features fantastic footage of The Clan, captured and broadcast by our own old music channel TMF.

This whole show is goosebumps.

Goosebumps

This is a special video showing Pharrell Williams and Ol' Dirty Bastard working together in the studio on the song "Pop Shit."

This session took place around 2003 during the recording of the compilation album The Neptunes Present... Clones. The song "Pop Shit" is an energetic track that combines ODB's signature raw style with Pharrell's melodic vocals and production.

The clip shows Pharrell encouraging ODB to record something crazy. ODB responds enthusiastically, saying, "I'll do it, but I want your touch on it, man." On the spot, Pharrell then makes up the lyrics, "Guess who's home!"

When ODB sings that in, everyone in the studio knows: THIS IS GOLD.

Guess who's home!

ODB at the Grammy's

At the 40th Grammy Awards in 1998, Ol' Dirty Bastard unexpectedly stormed onto the stage while singer Shawn Colvin was receiving her Grammy for "Song of the Year".

ODB grabbed the microphone and addressed the audience saying, "Please calm down. I went and bought me an outfit today that cost a lot of money today, you know what I mean? Cause I figured that Wu-Tang was gonna win. I don't know how you all see it, but when it comes to the children, Wu-Tang is for the children. We teach the children. Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best. Okay? I want you all to know that this is ODB, and I love you all. Peace!"

This action was in response to the fact that Wu-Tang Clan's album Wu-Tang Forever had lost the Grammy for Best Rap Album to Puff Daddy's No Way Out. ODB expressed his disappointment and stressed the importance of Wu-Tang Clan to the youth.

A day later, he sat down with Howard Stern to explain.
